Leadership Troy presents the Green Design Public Forum
Throughout the year Leadership Troy sponsors Public Forums on topical issues. On November 19, 2008 at the Troy Community Center in Room 302, a Public Forum on Green Design and Low Impact Development was held. The purpose of the Forum was to update, inform and to provide a qualified panel to discuss and answer questions from the community about various aspects of Green Design.
A panel of experts was assembled and included:
- Chris Pratt, Wake-Pratt Construction, developer of Cedar Pines, the only green subdivision in the state
- John Tagle, Tagle Associates, architect and Troy Planning Commissioner, sponsor of the Solar House re-located at the Troy Community Center
- Brian Murphy, Assistant City Manager for the City of Troy, champion of the Shades of Green program
- Chris Stout, Facilities Director for Walsh College and the Barry Center, Walsh’s green addition
- Richard K. Rappleye, Vice President of Administration for the Kresge Foundation, whose headquarters building is a model of sustainable design located in Troy
“Leadership Troy was very excited about hosting a Public Forum that brought people up to date on the world of Green Design,” said Leadership Troy President Jim Cyrulewski. “Attendees learned firsthand about past, present and future projects in Troy and surrounding areas that incorporate Green Design to lower the impact of development.”
